You can create HD movies with iMovie easily!

I wanted to write a great post on how to create HD videos with iMovie. You will need an HD camcorder to have them look the best. If you don’t have an HD one, the format will still look the same, they just won’t be in 720P. These are the exact step-by-step instructions on how to do it so all your videos will look amazing online.

What equipment do I use to create HD movies with iMovie?

I use a Flip Video HD to record my videos currently. I also use the Kodak Zi-8.

What software steps do I use to create HD movies with iMovie?

Within iMovie:

1) Click Share

2) Export using Quicktime

3) Options Size Select 1280 x 720

4) Movies to MPEG-4

5 )Default

6) File Format MP4

7) MPEG-4 Basic

8 ) Data Rate: Type  5000

9) Image Size 1280 x 720

10) Frame Rate: Current

11) Key Frame every 24 frames

12) Music select AAC-LC Music

13) Date Rate is 320 Kbps

14) Stereo

15) 48.0

16) Better

17) Streaming: No. Just leave it unchecked

18) Pick a file name and click save.

It will begin exporting the file and save it in the folder of your choice. You may then upload it to YouTube or any site, or burn it on a disc.
